About the de Young Museum

The de Young Museum is located in the beautiful city of San Francisco, California. The de Young Museum features many different selections from their collection of art, and they range from American art, African art, photography, costumes, textile works, and much more. Their American art collection contains pieces that can be dated back to the 1700s as well as modern pieces from today. The artwork ranges from sculptures, paintings, decorative arts, and more.

One of the museum’s current exhibitions is titled “Reinstallation of the Art of the Americas Galleries,” and it is within this installation that displays of over 200 works of art that were donated by the Weisel Family Collection. Each piece is geographically different as most of the artwork comes from different places throughout the world; spanning from the American Northwest to the Arctic Circle. Some of the pieces in question are items such as 11th-century sculptures from the Mimbres culture, 19th-century Navajo weavings, and even works from Andy Warhol's personal collection. 

The de Young Museum is open on Tuesdays through Sundays from 9:30 am until 5:15 pm. They are also open on Monday, July 2nd from 9:30 am until 5:15 pm, and they are closed on Wednesday, July 4th. 

Members of the de Young Museum, as well as children aged 17 and younger, get free admission into the museum. The admission fee for adults is $15, $12 for seniors aged 62 or older, and $6 for students as long as they have a valid school ID with them.
